Bryan Young is a singer and actor who moved to New York after graduating from Northwestern University in 2009. While in school, he had the opportunity to explore a wide variety of roles in a diverse set of productions. On the main stage, Bryan appeared in Waa-Mu: Skylines; a revue of student-written music in its 61st year. In addition to Waa-Mu, Bryan also took part in two American Musical Theatre Project (AMTP) readings: Moby Dick and Not Wanted on the Voyage.
Bryan also performed with many of NU’s student theatre groups. With The Jewish Theatre Ensemble, he played Seth/Shem in Children of Eden, Hysterium in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Steve in Hair, and The Mayor in Seussical. Other highlights include playing Gabe in Dinner with Friends, and originating multiple roles in A Room Embodied, a student-created exploration of Virginia Woolf’s life. Throughout school, he studied voice with Pamela Hinchman and Bruce Hall, both members of Northwestern’s vocal performance faculty. He also studied musical theatre performance with Amanda Dehnert and David Bell, and was chosen for Northwestern’s 2009 Musical Theatre Showcase.
Before college, Bryan participated in over 40 professional and community productions in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. He has performed with the Tony® award-winning Playhouse In The Park, CCM’s drama, opera, and musical theatre departments, and The Showboat Majestic among others. Favorite roles include Joe Hardy in Damn Yankees, Hero in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Curly in Oklahoma!, Sid in The Pajama Game, Marius in Les Misérables, Clive in Cloud 9, Charlie in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Colin in The Secret Garden (twice), and Amahl in Amahl and the Night Visitors (twice).
In addition to performance, Bryan has also been extensively involved in web and graphic design. Examples of his work can be seen on his website, www.allbybryan.com. He is currently an Interactive Designer at Kettle, a Soho-based agency with clients that include Sephora, The New Museum, Sesame Street, and Kiehl’s. He previously worked at Serino/Coyne, a Broadway marketing firm, on shows including Fela!, Lombardi, How to Succeed… with Daniel Radcliffe, Rock of Ages, Promises, Promises, and Time Stands Still.
